Wilburton east
Location: Bellevue, Washington
Client: Alliance Residential
Wilburton East is a proposed ten-story multifamily development in the newly-established Wilburton Transit-Oriented Development area that overlooks downtown Bellevue. The steep topography of the site creates several different levels of access points around the buildings and promotes creative design solutions. The large courtyard between the two buildings, accessible to the public, features raised planters with trees, shrubs and groundcover, an artificial lawn area with space for games, ample seating, pergola structure, and integrated game tables. On Level 2, a private courtyard provides residents with an outdoor kitchen, accent lighting, a water feature with an infinity edge looking west towards downtown, a firepit with lounge seating, another artificial lawn area for games, and a lush, raised planter border to provide space for the private patios. A roof deck on Level 10 provides a panoramic view of downtown to the west, with a second outdoor kitchen space, counter with seating, bar table with a fire feature to overlook the city and multiple seating areas for lounging or dining. At the west side of the building, green screen and climbing vines soften the lower portion of the façade.
Along N.E. 8th Street, a new, pedestrian-oriented frontage features a wide sidewalk lined with new street trees and planting strip that will provide shade in summer and year-round interest and color. Planting areas with trees, shrubs, grasses and groundcover along the building enhances the pedestrian experience further, while providing a buffer for the residential units.
