Elowen

elowen

Location: Lake Stevens, Washington

Client: Pastakia + Associates

Elowen is a proposed mixed-use project in the heart of downtown Lake Stevens, as part of the downtown revitalization, bringing housing and retail spaces to the neighborhood. 201 units are distributed between two buildings. Nearby North Cove Park provides several well-used amenities to the community, including lakefront access at the northeast end of the lake, with local historic elements interwoven into the park. Elowen picks up on the park’s design cues of steel and timber, bringing landscape elements into the public realm to connect to the park. The site design responds to an oddly-shaped site along with the future round-about development occurring in the right-of-way. The larger of the two building features a linear amenity patio on Level 2, looking southwest out towards the lake, with a firepit, gaming area, tenant gardening planters, and outdoor kitchen and dining. Private patio spaces access the common deck, where large planters with trees, shrubs, and groundcover create a buffer between the spaces. A pergola and string lights help define outdoor rooms. On the north side, private patios face a green roof with raised planters and trees. The smaller north building features private patios also, with an intimate pocket park tucked into the northwest corner of the site. A fire pit and outdoor seating are framed by string lighting, and picnic tables provide additional amenity.
